- Causes wrinkles and dry skin
Skin wrinkles are caused by internal ageing due to physiological factors and external ageing due to ultraviolet radiation (photoageing). The main cause of wrinkles is dry skin and reduced elasticity. A characteristic feature of ageing skin is a significant reduction in skin elasticity due to a reduction in the amount of collagen and elastic fibres in the dermis. In addition, the skin becomes drier due to reduced sebum secretion and accelerated metabolism of the natural moisturising factor, leading to the formation of wrinkles.
